Frequently Asked Questions:
CGI U is a growing community of young leaders who identify real challenges and decide to take concrete steps towards creating change. Throughout the year, and as a prerequisite of attending the CGI U annual meeting, students develop their own Commitments to Action: new, specific, and measurable initiatives that address pressing challenges on campus, in local communities, or around the world. Commitments range from establishing campus bike share programs to developing e-learning applications for mobile phones in specific regions.
Why a Codeathon?
Codeathons are a great way to push the boundaries of what you know and learn what you don’t. Accepted students will be connected to a group of dynamic peers from across the globe who wish to build something concrete, sustainable, and thought-provoking.
How will projects be judged?
The judges will select the winning platform based on the following criteria: addressing the prompt; design; creativity; and potential impact.
What can you expect at the event?
Codeathon participants can expect to connect with peers who are interested in utilizing technology for impact; network with mentors from a variety of companies and NGOs; and take part in a final competition where student teams will present their concepts and prototypes to an expert panel of judges.
What is the cost of attending?
For all accepted Codeathon applicants, this event is free and meals are provided on-site. However, event attendees must cover their own hotel and travel costs to the event.
